From Highways Magazine, June/July 2011.  ”Nearly 80% of accidents are the result of driver inattention in the 3 seconds prior to the accident.”  Another 13% is human errors of another kind.  That equals 93% of all our crashes are caused by ourselves.  Become a safer driver.  Take a Safe Driving Techniques course like the one I offer through the New York Safety Program.

Be aware, if an auto is in front of you and waiting to take a L turn, if you cross the solid emergency line getting around them on the R, that is a traffic violation.  Be patient and pass safely (there could be an even more impatient person behind you that comes from behind and rams into you!).

Remember, as of January 2011 you must move over a lane, if possible if any type of emergency vehicle is assisting someone in the emergency lane (fire, police, tow,  thruway rescue trucks, etc.).  If you can not safely do so, slow down by 15-20 mph in order to not get a ticket!

A serious warning

“It was the last phone call she ever made!”

She, her passenger, and the motorcyclist all died.

Become a safer driver, today!
